Since I live here, I can give you a thousand tips, but I thought it would be best to share my favorites.
Visit one of our beautiful museums. We have the Rijksmuseum,
The van Gogh Museum and Het Stedelijk Museum. These ones are the biggest
and most common to go to. The Rijksmuseum is my favorite.
Amsterdam has many canals and they are my favorite place to hangout.
Especially at warm summer nights and all the little lights under the bridges are
glowing. It is so Romantic! Make sure to have a boatrip along the canals.
There are big tourist boats, but I would take a smaller boat if I where you. There are many
people out here who have their own boat and are happy to take you for a small price.
The Vondelpark was almost my backyard and it is the biggest park in Amsterdam.
It is crowded, but not without a reason. It is a beautiful place to be
the entire year. You are even aloud to bbq at selected areas.
The Anne Frank house. I didn’t know where to put this one, since I wouldn’t go there.
Not because I don’t want to, but because there never is a quite moment to go.
The line of people is always way too long and there never is a single moment where you
don’t have to wait at least 30 minutes to get in. For me it is a no-go, because of this line.
If you do have a lot of patience, please go.
And one tip for you:
If you are not used to riding a bike, don’t rent one! I know it seems fun, but
you could get hurt. People in Amsterdam don’t mind the rules, they
bike fast and quick and tourists on bikes are one of the most annoying things for them. (me)
The 9 streets. Because there is no place in Amsterdam where you can find
so many cool shops in one place. Make sure to get an ice-cream at ’t IJscuypje.
10 Favorite places to have breakfast/lunch/diner:
Renato’s. Best pizza in town, but very small.
Calle Ocho. Taco’s and tequila. The perfect spot to share food with friends.
Van ’t Spit. Chicken, chicken and chicken. But fingerlicking good.
Cotton Cake. Cutest shop ever and they serve sublime coffee and waffles. Breakfast/Lunch or shopping.
Coffee & Coconuts. Breakfast or Lunch. A big place with many yummy healthy foods to eat.
SanGeorge. A hip Italian place where you drink overpriced wine and food, but the place is really worth a visit. I love it here!
HappyHappyJoyJoy. Asian food next level. Crowded, colorful but amazing food.
Mr. Porter. Rooftop bar in the W Hotel with a pool. On the roof. Say whuuut!
Bar Americano. Italian food as well served with high quality cocktails in a luxurious ambience.
SNCKBR. Wanna have comfort food, but less unhealthy? SNCKBR is a new hotspot that serves killer comfort food, but with honest and fresh ingredients.
I could go on forever, but if you want more cool places to go please head over the my other website: Amsterspots.
It’s written in Dutch, but I am sure you can figure it out 🙂
Enjoy your day! X
